A massive riverbed has been installed in Copenhagen’s Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. Taking up a large part of the museum’s space, is Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson where he has installed a rocky riverbed all over the floors. Visitors like Hansel and Gretel walked along the river bed among the stones and pebbles, with the occasional crawls under gallery doors. As people interact with the installation, it changes ever so slightly very much like the actual river bed. In here, its not about looking at sculptures or pictures on walls, its the journey one takes to through the riverbed that becomes the crux of the experience.
Olafur Eliasson is known for sculptures and large-scale installation art employing elemental materials such as light, water, and air temperature to enhance the viewer’s experience.
